The Chautauqua Fun Film Festival is this Saturday, August 7, at 10am at the Pickwick Theater in Syracuse. Attendance is free. The Festival consists of video clips shot by Syracuse-area residents of fun family times around the lake or home. Over fifty clips were submitted by area residents showing dogs having fun in the water, kids doing silly things, bouncing and flipping tubes, fireworks, biking and other family fun times. The videos were collected and submitted over the last 45-days, orchestrated by Chautauqua-Wawasee, and produced into a fast-paced film by Ryan Snider and Matt Wuthrich, recent Wawasee High School graduates. Following the viewing, awards will be presented in five categories: Fun with pets, kids’ fun, biking, tubing and a wildcard category. The public is invited to this one-time community event 10:00am – 10:30am. We certainly hope to see everyone there!
Chautauqua-Wawasee is planning the first annual Summer Fun Film Festival for August 7. The Film Festival will be a collection of personal phone videos of individuals, friends or family having fun on the water, biking, boating or around their home. The videos will be provided to Chautauqua Wawasee who will edit each to a short duration and combine with other videos for a free one-time showing on Saturday, August 7, from 10:00am to noon at the Pickwick Theater in Syracuse.
“This is an opportunity for the entire Lakes community to become involved by sharing their videos. Essentially this will create a short movie about our community; we’re excited that the Pickwick Theater has agreed to be our venue!”. The process to upload videos promises to be simple. The video along with contact information is submitted online HERE. Videos must conform to specific guidelines such as length (2 minutes or less), format (landscape only),and subject matter. Videos must be submitted by July 29, 2021.
Anyone is eligible to submit a video. Prizes will be awarded for the Best Video in categories such as: Fun with pets; Tubing fun; Relaxing this summer; Family Fun; Biking Fun; and others yet to be defined. Questions may be directed to Debbie Yankosky at 574-377-7543.
