Old-Fashioned Christmas at Oakwood Resort Returns

Old-Fashioned Christmas at Oakwood Resort returns on Saturday, November 28, from 5:30 to 8 PM, bringing families together for one of northern Indiana’s favorite free holiday traditions.

Throughout the evening, guests can enjoy twinkling lights, Christmas music, Santa and a few of his elves, horse-drawn wagon rides, live reindeer, sweet treats, festive characters, and plenty of holiday fun for all ages.

Tree Lighting Kicks Off the Evening

Festivities begin at 5:30 PM with music and gathering around the towering Christmas tree in front of Oakwood Resort. Then, at 6 PM, guests will join in the countdown as the tree lights up for the season.

Once the tree is glowing, the grounds officially open and the fun begins.

From there, families can visit with Santa and Mrs. Claus, Buddy the Elf, Frosty, Toy Soldiers, Reindeer, and even the Grinch. Along the way, there will be plenty of opportunities for photos and memorable holiday moments.

Christmas Stories and Traditions

Next, follow the decorated path to hear an elf read The Night Before Christmas. Afterward, stop by the Live Nativity for a meaningful reminder of the Christmas story.

“Guests can also visit the historic Oakwood Chapel to hear the Biblical account of Christmas from the book of Luke.” In addition, the chapel offers a peaceful moment of reflection amid the evening’s festivities.

Holiday Fun for All Ages

Meanwhile, throughout the Oakwood Resort grounds, guests can enjoy:

• Horse-drawn wagon rides
• A live reindeer encounter
• Fire pits with hot chocolate, cookies, and s’mores
• Games and a photo booth
• Costumed carolers singing favorite Christmas songs
