The workshop will be held from 5 to 7:30 p.m. on:
- Thursday, September 17, 2026
- Thursday, September 24, 2026
- Thursday, October 1, 2026
Classes will take place at the Syracuse Community Center, located at 1013 N. Long Drive in Syracuse, Indiana.
Learn the Mosaic Stained Glass Process
Participants will learn how to create a mosaic stained glass panel from beginning to end. Sally will guide students through each step of the process, including:
- Selecting a pattern
- Cutting glass
- Arranging and gluing glass pieces
- Applying grout
- Completing a beautiful and functional piece of art
The workshop is designed for all skill levels, from complete beginners to those with some stained glass experience.
By the end of the three-day workshop, each participant will complete a stained glass panel and gain the skills and confidence needed to continue creating independently.
All equipment, glass and supplies will be provided.
A Popular Workshop Returns
This workshop is a continuation of the popular stained glass workshop offered last year. Chautauqua-Wawasee and the Syracuse Parks Department have partnered again to bring this hands-on creative experience to the community.
Registration for last year’s workshop filled within one week. This year’s class is limited to eight participants and is expected to fill quickly.

About Sally Mahnken
Sally Mahnken has a stained glass studio in Syracuse, where she creates panels, sun catchers, tables, lamps and windows.
Her work has been displayed at the Penrod Art Festival in Indianapolis, the Winona Lake Fine Arts Show and the Wawasee Fine Arts Festival. She has also exhibited her work in two galleries,
however, Sally is quick to say she does not consider herself a professional stained glass artist. In her own words, she considers herself “a very good amateur.”
Sally incorporates leftover scrap glass into her mosaic designs, embracing sustainable practices while continuing to challenge herself creatively.
