THIS IS CHAUTAUQUA (SHUH-TAH-KWAH)
Chautauqua-Wawasee continues the Chautauqua tradition in Syracuse, Indiana, by offering programs that educate, inspire, and entertain. Family values and family activities are at the heart of what we do, creating experiences that bring people together across generations.
The Chautauqua movement began with the original Chautauqua Institution, founded in southwestern New York State in 1874. From the beginning, Chautauqua focused on exploring the best in human values through learning, creativity, and shared community experiences.
Today, Chautauqua-Wawasee is dedicated to enriching lives and strengthening community through accessible programs and events for all ages. Our offerings are designed to encourage curiosity, connection, and meaningful engagement in a welcoming environment.
The Chautauqua experience is guided by four focus areas, known as Pillars: arts, education, faith, and recreation. These Pillars shape our programs and reflect the values that continue to define the Chautauqua tradition.
